Omnitouch & Christmas Island Fibre INternet collaborate on a new project on norfolk island

At Omnitouch, we’re proud to have worked closely with Christmas Island Fibre Internet (CiFi) to create Norfone: Norfolk Island’s most powerful Mobile and Home Internet network. Together, we have designed, built, and launched a network purpose-built for Norfolk Island— motivated by the shared goal to better regional connectivity. Norfone Announces Launch of Home Internet Services

Norfone is excited to announce the launch of our network, bringing fast, reliable, and affordable home and mobile internet services to Norfolk Island.

As a locally run business, our mission is simple: to provide seamless connectivity for everyone—from long-term residents and small businesses to the growing number of visitors to our island.

“A lot of planning, work and effort has gone into building the Norfone network” says Co-Founder Hayden Cope. “It was important to us to create a service that addresses the current connectivity challenges of the Island, and meets the needs of the community. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved”.  

Designed specifically for Norfolk Island, the Norfone network leverages carrier-grade resilient infrastructure to deliver high-speed, low-latency home internet and mobile services. Our network leverages a cutting-edge approach to multi-constellation LEO satellite backhaul and has dramatically reduced service latency from 600ms to below 100ms, ensuring a smoother and more responsive online experience. Thanks to funding support from the Australian Government's Regional Connectivity Program, we've been able to close critical connectivity gaps and provide Norfolk Island with a robust and essential digital solution, ensuring a brighter digital future for both the community & businesses of Norfolk Island.

Norfone is committed to providing a locally-supported service, that’s why we have partnered with Norfolk Island Data Services (NIDS). “We were the first operator to bring internet connectivity to Norfolk Island” says NIDS Managing Director Riki Christian, “We’ve seen lots of technological improvements in this time, and working with Norfone on these new services is a natural progression for us”. Thanks to the team at NIDS, Norfolk customers will be able to receive in-person service and support from Island locals.
